PIREP - Stark Avionics

Numerous person, I appreciate pireps from individuals with knowledge of shops you use (whether positive or negative) and like to spread my experience for your contemplation on others as well. After a so-so experience within a recent avionics install, I found myself seeking an alternate avenue for your installation of a fresh transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The tariff of one am high that I actually busted out laughing on the mobile phone like I were at a comedy bar. He was apparently not as amused as I. I was telling the tale of my local quote to a friend on the airport and he recommended that we call John Stark at Stark Avionics for a quote. In doing my research prior to calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps around the shop. In doing so, I discovered a truly terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you want to read it). This pirep caused me serious concern about if they should call Stark for the quote.

I posted a broad query for recommendations on an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He and that i spoke in reference to his knowledge about Stark i chose to give John a phone call using the two recommendations I coming from trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns amongst the negative pirep on MS has I became gun shy using the previous experience. As they always say, there are two sides to every single story and John took his time for it to explain his side if you ask me at all like me certain he can be prepared to employ anybody else who want to phone him in that regard. Our conversation shifted in the pirep to pricing. John i discussed different equipment options, an amount be perfect for my needs/wants and also the one-time fee installed price for each and every option. We ultimately decided to install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted us a soft price, but was at the start that the number might be slightly higher if the tray was riveted in (as numerous Mooneys are). I went along to manchester airport that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were attached with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded really timely manner and confirmed the one-time fee price for the equipment and install written so we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane ended up being be dropped off the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said he'd except time ready by Tuesday, however i opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday in the event there are some snags along the way.
